girls rule

Girls on the Run is a non-profit program that helps preteen girls build self esteem, tackle youth issues, acquire leadership skills, and develop healthy well-rounded lifestyles through running and athletics.

When Goody learned of the Girls on the Run program in 2005, they realized it was a perfect match. Goody and Girls on the Run share a similar mission to give girls and women tools that make them feel great about who they already are and allow them to confidently express themselves to the outside world in any setting. That’s what makes the partnership such a perfect fit. Goody is proud to be a national sponsor of Girls on the Run.

Twice a year, at select Girls on the Run 5k events, Goody sets up Happy Hair Stations, where the girls can decorate their hair in preparation for the big race. They have dozens of hair accessories and colored hairsprays to choose from, and often end up with some very creative and colorful hair designs. It’s just one way that the girls can confidently express themselves – by having fun with their hair!
In addition, many Goody employees feel such a connection with Girls on the Run that they volunteer their time to coach these girls though out the season; helping to personally impact and build their confidence.

It’s amazing to watch the girls cross the finish line in their first 5k and see the sense of accomplishment that they have. Even in today’s world, girls at this age do not get a lot of encouragement in the area of athletics. This program is a great way to introduce girls to a healthy lifestyle at an early age.

Goody was featured in Fitness Magazine’s 2008 Fit 50 list, which ranks companies, people and programs that are involved in or promote aspects of being healthy.

In ranking Goody 29th on the list, the magazine wrote: “Sure we love its StayPut hair accessories, but Goody supports more than ponytails. For the third year, the company is sponsoring Girls on the Run; this year (they are) passing out free accessories at Happy Hair Stations at 20 Girls on the Run 5K events across the country.”
